How Can I pay AAA insurance (So. Cal.) with credit card?

AAA doesn't take credit cards anymore. What's best way to pay with credit card to meet chase minimum $3000 for sapphire preferred bonus? I have another thousand to spend and insurance happens to be about a thousand.

I went through the exercise of meticulously comparing companies against each other a few years back and ended up switching to SafeCo. They were more expensive on the cars but when I bundled it with the homeowner's they came out cheaper than other like bundles. And ... my agent (in town) managed to add on my daughter for $200/year after she got a brand-newly minted license.

AND ... they take credit cards for premium payments. PM me if you want my agent's contact info.

AAA accepts insurance payments with credit cards if you pay in full.

Hmm, interesting, didn't know that. I knew they were changing to a new "system" as they gave me a new insurance policy number. Thanks for the tip, I'll go ask this weekend as I'm up for insurance renewal soon as well.

SoCal and NorCal AAAs are different; this I know from personal experience.

I'm not sure what the recent change was. I've asked many times over the years (not every year though) and was never able to pay my AAA SoCal insurance* by credit card. (I've had their insurance for at least 15 years now, so I can't remember which years I asked about it.)

How long did it work? Maybe it was simply a trial?

*Please note: There is no such thing as "AAA Insurance". The insurance is from your local AAA office, and each local AAA office has different policies (forgive the pun) regarding how you can pay for the insurance policies.

State Farm in CA allows monthly payments via CC (Visa/Mastercard).

That has been one of my biggest gripes with AAA SoCal. Not being able to pay online with a credit card or having the option of paperless statements in this day and age is quite pitiful IMO.

Surprised no one has written to AAA SoCal for this.

Well I just wrote an e-mail to AAA SoCal, and this was the response that I received:

----------------------------------------------------------------------

Dear kebosabi,

Thank you for your email.

Your suggestions are important to us, as we continue our efforts
to provide our members with services that will meet and hopefully
exceed expectations.

While paperless statements may be something we offer in the future,
we have many insureds who have not come to rely on the computer
and are reliant on the postal service. To penalize them for this and allow
discounts to others would not be a way for us to show the same amount of
loyalty to our members as they have shown to us throughout the years.

Credit card payments are also something we are currently looking at,
one concern is that when making auto insurance payments, we assess
a finance charge. If our insureds are making monthly payments with
credit cards, then they are getting twice the amount of charges, which
again, is not a viable way to treat our members.

Again, these are options we are looking at and while we do not offer
them at this time, we may offer them in the future. Please, let us know
if there is anything else we may do for you.

Thank you for your membership with the Auto Club.

My guess is that there are just too many SoCal AAA members still happy with the old fashioned way of writing checks and receiving their statements via snail mail that they see no reason to change their method. Unless of course, if more people start asking for it.

I am in Texas. I paid my AAA Auto insurance and Home insurance using credit card for the last 3 years. I had to pay by phone or go to a local office. I couldn't do it online.
